Learn What Wind and Solar Energy Can Do for You At Audubon Workshop, Saturday
David Moller will present a workshop to answer “What Can Wind and Solar Energy Do for You?” at Audubon Community Nature Center on Saturday.
David Moller has been experimenting with alternative energy since his youth.
At the Audubon Community Nature Center workshop “What Can Wind and Solar Energy Do for You?” those attending can learn what he has discovered and how the sustainable energy sources of wind and solar can be applied to one’s lifestyle, home, small farm or small business. The workshop will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 17.
Alternative energy has been a passion of Moller’s for most of his life. He started experimenting with alternative energy 45 years ago in the Boy Scouts, where he cooked food and heated water with the sun. He also learned the basics of creating electricity by spinning objects with the wind.
Moller built a wind a wind turbine blade carving machine in his metal shop in Jamestown 15 years ago and has since designed and fabricated numerous wind turbine systems. He started designing and installing solar power systems about 10 years ago. He is North American Board of Certified Energy Practitioners-certified in solar systems and New York State Energy Research and Development Authority-qualified.
Specific questions about applications can be answered more accurately by those attending who bring yearly electrical consumption in kilowatt-hours. Those attendin gare encouraged to their most recent electric bill, which includes such information.
The fee for the workshop is $8, $6 for Nature Center members.
While reservations are appreciated by Thursday, June 15, walk-ins are welcome. Reservations can be made by calling 569-2345 during business hours or clicking through Attend a Program/Programs and Workshops under Plan Your Visit at www.auduboncnc.org.
