County Society Of Artists To Hold Arts And Crafts Show Saturday

There will be no November meeting of the Chautauqua County Society of Artists. Instead, the group will host an arts and crafts show on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 pm. in the community room at Fluvanna Community Church.

The society is calling the show Holiday Bazaar. Twenty tables of gift ideas have already been consigned early. There will be pottery, jewelry, mirrors, cards, honey, baked goods, beach glass, bead work, paintings in all mediums, ornaments, pressed flowers, photography, calligraphy, mosiacs, quilts, wooden treasures, and more. Monies from the bake sale will benefit the church. There will be door prizes, too.

At the society’s last meeting, the group made bowls for the Empty Bowls Project under the direction of Ron Nasca at the Mudslingers studio. Each participant made five bowls for the project and one for themselves. The bowls will be offered at the Clarion Hotel in Dunkirk on Saturday, Dec. 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The fundraiser is not an auction, but the bowls are available for a donation. In 2015, the Empty Bowls project resulted in the donation of 1,650 bowls, with proceeds given to the 27 Chautauqua County food pantries and soup kitchens.
