It won’t be long before senior high school students leave their alma maters – some to plan further studies or some to find a special occupation as told to Westfield/Mayville Rotarians recently.

Westfield Academy & Central

Cameron Abbey-Mott, who will earn 17 Jamestown Community College credits, will graduate from WACS with honors. A National Honor Society member, she also has been in modified and varsity soccer for four years, serving as captain during her 9th through 12th years. In addition, she has played junior varsity basketball and is a member of the varsity girls’ basketball team. A four-year varsity girls’ softball team, she is team captain.

A member of the Prom Committee in her junior year, Cameron currently is heard on the morning announcements. A current member of the Environmental Club, she was with the Runner’s Club.

A four-year Senior High band and chorus, Cameron belongs to the Westwinds and Firecrackers. She also has been in three musicals.

Having volunteered time with the Westfield Recreation Department and Westfield Memorial Hospital, Cameron also has been employed at Dock’s Restaurant in Mayville and the Athenaeum Hotel in Chautauqua Institution.

The daughter of Frederick and Connie Abbey-Mott of Westfield, Cameron plans to attend D’Youville College to pursue a degree in Pharmacy.

Sherman Central

Katelyn Tenpas, a National Honor Society member, was named the JCC College Connections Student of the Year in her junior year. In addition, she is a member of the Student Council, Fellowship of Christian Students and band as flute player. She also has been on stage crew for musicals.

As for sports, Katelyn has fun doing cross country and track throughout her high school years. And, outside of school, she is an active member of church youth group, Vacation Bible School, 4-H and Footsteps.

The daughter of Bruce and Tammy Tenpas of Sherman, Katelyn plans to attend Daemen College to be in a five-year Physician Assistant program.

Brocton Central

Alyxandrea Schichtel, a representative to FBI Captains Leadership seminar in her junior year, she also was selected to attend a sportsmanship Symposium in Maple Grove in her senior year and will receive a Brocton Central School Regents diploma.

Secretary of her class for the past two years, ‘Aly’ has been in chorus for 10 years for which she has been secretary for two years. Now secretary for her second year in Student Council, she has been chosen for the CCMTA All County Chorus six times and has attended Westfield Chamber, participated in three Brocton musicals, served on the Prom Committee and currently is a Brocton Review writer.

Starting volleyball in 7th grade, Aly was on varsity two years and captain in senior year. She also played basketball four years and was captain in her sophomore year. For her senior year, there was no girls’ basketball so she played on the boys’ team and currently is on the Bulldogs softball team.

Aly danced for nine years with Tap and Toes Performing Arts and an additional year at Danza Performing Arts in Fredonia. She also enjoys spending time riding four-wheelers, shooting guns, hunting, lifting weights and playing with her siblings. In addition, she has been working at Fredonia McDonalds.

The daughter of James and Lisa Schichtel and Melissa and Dewitt Chamberlin, Alyxandrea plans to attend JCC for Occupational Therapy.

Chautauqua Lake Central

Andrew Laurita, who is consistently named to the honor roll, has worked hard in his Advanced Placement and Honors classes throughout his high school career. He is a member of the High School Bowl Academic team and the National Honor Society.

Employed during the previous summer at Afterwords Cafe, Andrew enjoys reading, hiking, swimming, cycling and outdoor activities. He also volunteers for the Chautauqua Lake Elementary Halloween fun night and assists in a first grade classroom.

The son of James and Wendy Marlinski of Jamestown and Alan Laurita, Andrew may begin his studies at JCC and then transfer to the University of Buffalo to pursue pharmaceutical studies.
