Smith Seeks Re-Election As Westfield Town Clerk

WESTFIELD – Timothy C. Smith is seeking re-election to the office of Westfield Town Clerk.

He has served as clerk for 3 terms over nine years after being appointed on Jan. 1, 2007. He is endorsed by the Republican Party, the Conservative Party and the Reform Party.

A graduate of Westfield Academy and Central School, Smith has a bachelor’s degree from the State University at Brockport as a certified New York state teacher. While attending Brockport he also completed the Army’s ROTC program at Rochester Institute of Technology, earned Distinguished Military Graduate, and was commissioned as a lieutenant in the Army upon graduation. He went on to serve more than 20 years in the military, retiring and moving back to the Westfield community in 2001. Prior to becoming town clerk, Smith was the deputy director of the Chautauqua County Head Start program for four years. He and his wife Susan (Haskin) have three sons: Aaron, Joshua and Noah.

Smith is a current member of the Westfield Academy and Central School Board, with more than seven years experience, an officer for American Legion Post 327, a member of the VFW, and has spent seven years as a volunteer youth soccer coach and Westfield Little League coach. He is also a member of the state Association of Town Clerks.

“As town clerk, I will use the experience and expertise I’ve gained to continue providing the community with quality services,” Smith said. “In addition, I am always exploring innovative ways to increase office efficiency and save taxpayers’ money. A prime example is the incorporation of technology into records management. I wrote and received a grant (totaling $5,200) from the Office of NYS Archives to electronically image and index a large percentage of town vital records. This significantly decreases research time and storage space.”
