Phi Eta Sigma Inducts 68 Into National Honor Society

ST. BONAVENTURE – The St. Bonaventure University chapter of Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society inducted 68 students at its honors luncheon ceremony.

Phi Eta Sigma, the country’s largest and oldest honor society for freshmen, was founded in 1923 to promote superior scholarship among freshmen and membership is conferred as recognition of an exceptional academic record. The St. Bonaventure chapter was established in 1999.

Membership is offered to students who during their first year as a full-time student – in this case, 2014-15 – earn a GPA of 3.5 or above. Lifetime membership is conferred upon induction.

More than 150 first-year students at St. Bonaventure achieved at least a 3.5 GPA in 2014-15, with 68 accepting the invitation to join Phi Eta Sigma.
