More Than 20 Complete JCC Immersion Program

Students from four countries completed the three-week English Language Immersion Program at Jamestown Community College in early August.

The class of 2015, taught by Suzanne Knowlton and Kiersten Hansen, included 22 students representing Japan, Mexico, Spain, and Tunisia.

Offered on JCC’s Jamestown Campus since 2008, the intensive three-week program includes focused instruction in reading, composition, speaking and listening, as well as American culture. Students, most of whom stay in JCC’s residence halls during the program, receive seven hours of instruction each weekday and participate in a variety of evening and weekend activities.

This summer’s activities included visits to Chautauqua Institution, Niagara Falls, Presque Isle, the Chautauqua County Fair and the Roger Tory Peterson Institute.

Among the students participating were college professors and students from Mexico supported by the Project 100,000 program and college students participating through the Tunisia Community College Scholars Program.

Starting at $3.50/week.
