Youth Springs Eternal

MAPLE SPRINGS – The Chautauqua County Office for the Aging recently announced The Springs Restaurant is now participating in its Senior Restaurant Dining Out Program. The Springs Restaurant is located at 4860A Route 430 in Maple Springs, and it will be accepting senior vouchers during its regular business hours of Tuesday through Saturday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday from 8:30 a.m. to noon.

The restaurant has served local residents and travelers of Chautauqua County for over 20 years. It specializes in Italian and Mexican foods, seafood, and steaks, along with homemade soups and desserts.

“The Springs Restaurant is proud to partner with the Office for the Aging in offering the seniors of Chautauqua County a nutritionally balanced and delicious menu for lunch, dinner and breakfast,” said Dan McCanna, owner of The Springs Restaurant. “We are looking forward to meeting our new friends and hearing their life stories, and the making of new memories of great food and new friendships that we will share together. We are blessed to have this opportunity, and my staff and I are eagerly looking forward to it.”

The Senior Restaurant Dining Out Program is a collaboration between the OFA and local restaurants to provide subsidized meals to seniors. It gives seniors the opportunity to be active in their communities, socialize and receive a full nutrient composed meal. It also gives them the ability to choose when to eat, where to eat and what to eat.

Seniors ages 60 and over who wish to participate must register for the program and get tickets, for a suggested donation of $3.50 per meal, directly from Office for the Aging by calling 753-4471, 661-7471, or 363-4471. Tickets can be used at any of the five participating restaurants and restaurant lists and times of participation will be sent out with all ticket orders. Tickets can only be used to obtain specified meal choices from the Senior Dining-Out Menus and there are no substitutions. Tickets cannot be transferred to others, turned in for cash or used at non-participating restaurants. Gratuity and additional purchases (not included in the senior menu choices) are the participant’s responsibility.

“We would love to hear from other restaurants in the county who may be interested in participating in the program,” said Becky Blum, Senior Nutrition Program director. “This is a very popular program for seniors and the more choices and locations available for them the better the program will be.”
