Snowmobile trails in Western New York are not open until Dec. 18.

According to Ray Head, president of The Chautauqua County Federation of Snowmobile Clubs, it is imperative that snowmobilers not ride until Dec. 18.

He noted that although there is currently enough snow to ride on trails in places like Forestville, landowners will close trails on their properties if snowmobilers ride before the season opens, creating issues for the entire snowmobiling community.
