Swanson Speaks To North Harmony Seniors
Ann Swanson, writer, publisher and journalist, was the guest speaker at the June 13 meeting of the North Harmony Senior Citizens. She is the writer of the Sunday feature “View from Hickory Heights,” which appears weekly in The Post-Journal. She incorporates the daily living styles and customs of people she has met to address topics that reflect every day domestic and social experiences. She has been a mother, teacher, author, volunteer and Bible school teacher.
Swanson told the group that she had interviewed many people in her career with such notables as Dennis Webster, David Eisenhower and Willie Nelson. She told the group that people like Willie Nelson were down home folks that liked to share their life experiences with her. Swanson has authored four books which deal with cooking, daily memories at Hickory Heights, thoughts and actions after the loss of a loved one and Christmas traditions.
After this presentation, President Ferry conducted the club business for the month.
He spoke of the issue to create a club historian. A resolution was introduced to change the age of life membership dues from 85 to age 80. There was little discussion on the topic, and it will be voted upon at the July Meeting.
Hosts for the June 17 meeting were Steve and Loretta Saulsgiver, Carol Davenport, and Pat Baker. Joyce Warner provided the birthday cake.
Birthday celebrants for the month of June were Steve Saulsgiver, Harriet Smith and Alfred LaFredo. Wedding anniversaries were noted for Robert and Sally Carlson, Jeannie and Fred Humble and Dan and Kathy Kelly.
The July meeting will be held Monday at the North Harmony Senior Center. Hosts for the dinner will be June Seiburg, Myrtle Skiba and Jesse Syper. Bonnie Johnson will provide the birthday cake.
