Local Mayville Businesses Partnering Up For Earth Week Clean-Up

MAYVILLE – For a week in April, the village of Mayville will see a community grass-roots event taking place for the fourth consecutive year.

Three local businesses – Evergreen Outfitters, Handcrafted From the Heart, and The Mayberry Jungle – are partnering up once again to bring the clean-up efforts back to their community. The event was started as a way to give back to the community and beautify it by picking up the local trash and was started by Evergreen Outfitters, CHQ Dogs, and Bill Ward from the Chautauqua Rails to Trails – all who are still participating in some capacity.

Earth Day happens each year on April 22 but the weather the last two years was not cooperative on that specific day, making participation minimal. With the addition of seven additional days, there is a greater chance that the weather will cooperate and allow people to get out during their free time to help. Those who participate will be included in the door prizes that are donated by local area businesses and organizations.

The group is collecting rubber gloves, trash grabbers, and door prizes for anyone who is interested in donating. All donors will be considered sponsors and will be listed on all marketing materials as well as the media. Those with an interest in donating any of these items can reach out to the businesses. The event is up on Facebook as well as the Chautauqua County Visitor’s Bureau.
