BROCTON – The Morse Funeral Home will be changing hands later this week.

Dan DiStasio of South Dayton, and owner of the DiStasio Funeral Home in that community, will be officially taking ownership Wednesday.

“Morse Funeral Home has had a longstanding history of thoughtfully caring for all its clients in the Brocton-Portland and surrounding communities complete with its history of integrity and good service,” said Suzanne Merle, outgoing owner, in a statement. “I am completely assured it will continue to do so with Dan DiStasio’s exceptional skills and kind and thoughtful professional service and his many years of experience in the funeral business.

Morse Funeral Home is located at 51 Highland Drive.

“Doug Sanderson, the current licensed manager, will continue to be associated with the Morse Funeral Home and I will still be living there and maintaining the property as usual,” she said.

“I personally would like to give my sincere thanks to all my managers, other funeral directors and associated professionals in the business who supported and helped me through these past 12 years after my husband’s sudden death in 2011.This place would not have been the success that it has been without you all and that assistance.

“Lastly, I am deeply and especially grateful to all the people of the Brocton-Portland area and surrounding communities and all the families who maintained their support and faith in me and our Morse Funeral Home over all these many years and decades.

“It has been my great and humble honor to serve you all and you have my gracious thanks for the experience. Dan Distasio is now ready and willing to assume that mantle and continue that tradition.”
