Credit Union Acquires Building

LAKEWOOD — Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union purchased the former Wealth Management Building located at 110 Mall Blvd., Lakewood, and closed on it earlier this month. The new building will serve as the credit union’s headquarters.

The Legend Group and Deppas Insurance Agency will continue to reside in the building.

SCFCU will now boast a training center large enough to gather the entire staff of over 70 employees and ensure regular, ongoing conversations and communication. The credit union believes this opportunity affords them the ability to continue to build and grow their organization as well as their team and they’re confident they’ll reach new heights.

The excitement for the space continues to grow among the management team and staff because the space provides SCFCU with a state-of-the-art training center to ensure all staff are knowledgeable and ready to serve their membership.

The building will undergo major renovations, and the hope is that SCFCU will officially be in the new headquarters within the first quarter of 2024.

“I have been fortunate enough to be a member of the Credit Union for over 30 years and for 25 of those years I have enjoyed being part of the board of directors,” board member Bill Caldwell said. “During that time, we have made many property acquisitions and erected new buildings to serve our growing membership. This purchase is exactly what the Credit Union has needed to not only take care of our members, but to provide our staff with the training necessary to meet the needs of our current and future members as we strive to be a leader in financial resources for the residents of Chautauqua County.”

In addition to being a training facility for the credit union staff, there will be a space available for SCFCU community partners and other organizations. Non-profit organizations and other civic associations will be able to utilize the space at no or low cost.

Starting at $3.50/week.
