St. Elmo Spa Recognized: Institution Business Receives Mayville Chamber Award

Julie Ambrose, owner of St. Elmo Spa at Chautauqua, receives the Business Improvement Award from Shannon Biekarck, coordinator for the Mayville-Chautauqua Community Chamber of Commerce.

MAYVILLE — The Mayville-Chautauqua Community Chamber of Commerce recently presented its 2022 Business Improvement Award to the St. Elmo Spa.

After purchasing the St. Elmo Spa in 2018, owner Julie Ambrose renovated and refreshed the spa’s interior, enhanced existing treatments, and added new services — all while navigating the uncertainties brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. The St. Elmo Spa has become a popular destination for those looking to relax and rejuvenate and it is open for business year-round.

Ambrose’s goal has been to bring a big city feel to their small town. When guests arrive, they’ll notice the bright and elegant decor, but there have also been many practical enhancements including: an enlarged manicure area, increased functionality of the facial room, a retail area devoted to skin care, and greater overall efficiency in the spa’s layout.

The St. Elmo Spa just completed its final expansion this year by building a full-service hair salon, an enlarged massage therapy suite, and third facial room.

Along with various types of massage, facials, manicures and pedicures, the spa’s services include body wraps, HydraFacial MD, and dermaplaning, which are not typically offered by day spas.

Special occasion hair and makeup are also available. The spa welcomes bridal parties and others celebrating a birthday or anniversary, as well as couples and groups of friends to come and be our guests. Spend the day, bring lunch, and relax. The spa will do everything to make sure time spent with them is special.

The St. Elmo Spa is located in the concourse (lower level) of The St. Elmo Building at 1 Pratt Ave. on the grounds of the Chautauqua Institution. St. Elmo Spa is open year-round.
