WESTFIELD — Westfield area businesses have won several awards in the Lake Erie Living Magazine “Best of Lake Erie” competition covering communities across Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New York.

Westfield area businesses home 13 awards out of 27 categories and 84 total winners.

“It’s a real testament of the vibrant community Westfield has become. Think about how much community pride it takes to organize and get people to vote and write testimonies. This isn’t just hitting the like button. You had to explain why a business was the best,” said Don McCord, executive director of the Westfield Development Corporation. “We’re proud of our community and how the area really supports our small businesses. We are thriving here in Westfield.”

Westfield survived the challenges of the past two years with resilience, running a farmers’ & artisans’ market in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic and promoting shopping and restaurant take-out during that time. Westfield lost only two businesses on main street during 2020-21 and both were serving the wedding industry.

“Our community really showed up. People came and supported our downtown restaurants and shops, keeping them alive,” said Mike Velde Mayor of Westfield. “Now our downtown is thriving, and more businesses are looking to move here. We’re excited about the future and the possibilities. Westfield has a wonderful downtown with fun retail shops and great restaurants. If we keep working hard, and we will, Westfield will continue to be a regional destination.”

The business winners are Brazill’s on Main (Fine Dining), Rosie’s Workshop (Home DÈcor & Gifts), Grace and Abe’s (Happy Hour), Johnson Estate Winery (Winery), Annex 25 (Summer Cocktail), Parkview CafÈ (Sunday Brunch), Westfield Nursery (Garden Center), Barcelona Lakeside B&B (Bed & Breakfast), CJ’s Pizza (Pizza). Westfield winning attractions are Barcelona Harbor Beach (Beach), Lincoln-Bedell Statue (Historic Site), Barcelona Lighthouse (Lighthouse).

Westfield itself was named “Best town” by the magazine.

“It’s a huge honor for the community to be recognized in this way. The vibrancy and pride our residents have is amazing and it shows,” said Martha Bills, Westfield town supervisor.

“This is quite the accomplishment. This puts Westfield on the map in over four Lake Erie states and is a testament to the strength of our downtown and surrounding area. We are pleased to be one of the 13 winners,” said Blair Koss, founder of Rosie’s Workshop. “We have experienced a large increase in regional visitors to our store on Main Street. It’s great to see Westfield recognized in this way.”

Rosie’s Workshop is a home decor brand manufactured here in Chautauqua with retail stores in Pittsburgh and Westfield. They sell internationally to the hospitality industry.
