Bloom Buddies recently celebrated the grand opening of its flower shop located at 212 Pine St. in Jamestown.

LeeAnn Sholl, the owner of Bloom Buddies, said the shop specializes in fresh cut flowers, potted plants and gift items.

Sholl said the flower shop business was inspired by her passion for flowers and artistry.

“This kind of started as a passion project and a way to provide jobs for myself and my friends in a career that we love,” she said. “We all really enjoy working with the fresh cut flowers and making unique designs and flower art.”

Sholl said Bloom Buddies is committed to providing good service for people. She believes flowers can enhance people’s lives and impact special occasions.

“Flowers help people express emotion, and we take it very seriously and understand that it’s important to provide quality and care in what we do,” she said.

The grand opening of Bloom Buddies was on Aug. 3. Local officials and community members attended the event and expressed support for the new business downtown. To celebrate the occasion, the flower shop had 1,000 roses decorating the outside of the store.

“That was amazing,” Sholl said. “We had a really good time. We had an amazing turnout. We are super grateful for everybody who showed up and showed their support.”

One of the featured events at the grand opening was a build-your-own bouquet bar. Sholl said the community’s response to the feature was “overwhelming” and that Bloom Buddies plans on bringing that back on a daily basis.

Perhaps the most unique feature at the shop’s grand opening was the musical “plant band” created by Kyle Sholl.

The plant band idea was something they discovered on the internet. Electronic impulses are emitted from the living plants and are harnessed by technology to create music and unique sounds.

“What is creating the energy is the plant actually drawing the water out of the soil,” Sholl said. “That’s what’s creating the electricity.”

By using different circuits and capacitors, Sholl is able to translate the electronic impulses into different forms of music.

“Different plants react different ways,” he said. “There’s quite a few different ways you could hook it up.”

Bloom Buddies has continued to receive support from the community following its grand opening.

“We have a lot of walk-in business, a lot of people stopping in to check it out,” LeeAnn Sholl said.

Danice Vott, the manager of Bloom Buddies, said the shop is in the perfect location to provide flowers for Jamestown residents on a daily basis.

“We’re the only flower shop downtown,” Vott said. “We get to provide a different service because we are downtown. We’re just providing really excellent service and the highest quality flowers that we can get.”

Bloom Buddies orders flowers from all over, providing the local community with a wide variety of options. The business also uses a cooler maintenance program that helps the flowers stay in the best condition.

Sholl believes Bloom Buddies offers something different than other flower shops.

“I feel like we are a little bit more modern and not afraid to step out of the box a little bit with our designs,” she said. “I just hope that we can bring some joy by sharing the beauty of flowers.”

Starting at $3.50/week.
