Schuster Promoted By Westfield DPW

WESTFIELD — The Village of Westfield has promoted Erin Schuster to the position of assistant director of the Department of Public Works.

Schuster graduated from Westfield Academy and Central School in 1995 where he majored in arts and science. After high school, he worked for his family’s disposal business for two years before attending Jamestown Business College where he received an associate degree in applied science for business administration/ marketing and management.

In 2001, Schuster began his career at the Village of Westfield Street Department. Soon after he transferred to the village’s Wastewater Treatment Facility where he worked for seven years in both plant operations and plant maintenance roles. In 2007, Schuster was given the opportunity to crosstrain at the water plant and started full-time at the water plant in 2009. From 2009 through 2015, he worked as a water plant operator and also started getting involved with water distribution system maintenance. After the retirement of Wayne Cardy in September 2015, Schuster took over as the senior water plant operator.

During his time at the water plant, he has obtained the following state Department of Health operator licenses: Grade IIA Plant Operator, Grade “C” Plant Operator and Grade “D” Distribution Operator. He has also received his state Department of Environmental Conservation Grade 4A Wastewater Operator License.

Schuster lives in the town of Chautauqua with Fawn, his wife of 14 years, and their 9-year-old daughter Cala.
