MAYVILLE — County Executive Paul M. Wendel Jr. has selected Daniel Rey as Chautauqua County safety coordinator.

Rey has served as the Safety and Training Coordinator for Niagara County since January 2014. In this position, he developed and oversaw safety-training programs for the county. This included performing inspections of departments’ work areas, buildings and equipment; identifying and making recommendations for the reduction or elimination of risks to personnel and the public, and conducting post-workplace accident investigations.

“Dan has a proven track record for ensuring compliance with safety regulations and identifying and mitigating areas of risk that may pose a threat to safety,” Wendel said. “His expertise will be a great asset to our operations and I am excited to welcome him to our team.”

Rey earned his associate’s degree in communications and media arts at Niagara County Community College in Sanborn, N.Y. and his bachelor’s degree in secondary social studies education at Buffalo State College in Buffalo, N.Y. He also holds a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership Administration and Organizational Leadership Administration from the University of South Florida, in Tampa, Fla.

“I am honored to accept this appointment,” said Rey. “I look forward to using my skills in safety and training coordination to help further Chautauqua County’s mission of keeping its employees and customers safe.”

Rey lives in Lakewood.
