Local YWCA Names New Director Of Facilities

The YWCA Jamestown’s Board of Directors has named Shane Monroe director of facilities and school aged child care.

“We are pleased to name Shane to the position of Director of Facilities and School Aged Child Care. Shane’s well-versed in the day-to-day operations of our three buildings that our community depends on each day for our programs and services. The YWCA Board of Directors has the utmost confidence in Shane as he assumes his new responsibilities within our organization,” said Allison Carrow, president of the YWCA Jamestown Board of Directors.

Additionally, Monroe will oversee the organization’s extensive School-Age Child Care program, encompassing after school care and summer programs at Bush and Fletcher elementary schools and Jefferson and Washington middle schools as well as a summer camp program at the YWCA Lake Lodge and the Summer LEAP program. Having held the role of director of after school programs since 2014, children and families in the area are familiar with Monroe and his child care programs.

“I’m so excited to take on my new position here at the YWCA. Working in the facilities and school-aged childcare departments has unique challenges and rewards every day, and I am thrilled to continue to help expand and refine our programs,” Monroe said of his new position. “I want to ensure that all the programs and facilities that I am responsible for providing a quality and safe program for all.”

Monroe has a bachelor of science in business administration and human resources from Houghton College. He lives in Jamestown with his wife and two sons. Monroe and his family enjoy spending lots of time with family, taking cruises and spending the summers at their family camps.
