Chautauqua Physical and Occupational Therapy Expands Clinical Team

Alyssa Settelmaier

Chautauqua Physical and Occupational Therapy announced the expansion of its clinical team with the addition of three new therapists.

Dr. Alyssa Settelmaier specializes in treating ladies with pelvic floor dysfunction including bladder leakage and pelvic pain. In addition, Dr. Settelmaier is a certified lymphedema therapist.

“The most common cause in USA is secondary lymphedema caused by cancer/cancer related treatments, usually breast cancer. I can help patients with primary (developmental abnormalities of lymph tissues) and secondary lymphedema, lipedema, and venous issues. Also performed pre- and post-breast cancer surgeries evaluations, can treat these patients with lymphedema (if they have it) and other issues post-surgery like range of motion, strength and scar mobility,” said Dr. Settelmaier.

Dr. Tara Darling has returned to her hometown and has quickly become a valued leader. She specialized in all levels of orthopedic rehabilitation including total joint replacement, back, neck, shoulder and knee pain and dysfunction.

“I truly believe no one should have to live with pain. As a physical therapist, we have the unique opportunity to enhance people’s quality of life in different ways. We are responsible for getting patients back to what they love to do and the journey to do that is extremely rewarding,” said Dr. Darling.

Dr. James Nagle is the most recent addition to the clinical team. He began his professional life teaching high school social studies and transitioned into the field of physical therapy graduating from D’Youville College with a doctorate in physical therapy in 2019.

“Movement is medicine. As a physical therapist, I enjoy making it my mission to help patients restore their level of function, return to doing the things they enjoy and empowering them with the knowledge to improve their quality of life. I find it rewarding to work in a profession that allows me to guide people into becoming stronger versions of themselves,” said Dr. Nagle.

In July, the practice expanded with a third location at 51 E. Third St. in Dunkirk, with other locations at 15 S. Main St. in Jamestown and 99 E. Chautauqua St. in Mayville.
