Berke Named Medical Director

WESTFIELD — Absolut Care of Westfield, a 120-bed nursing and rehabilitation facility, recently announced the appointment of Dr. Robert Berke as its medical director.

The facility is currently being serviced under an administrative services agreement with RCA Healthcare Management as it works to complete a formal change of ownership. RCA is a recognized leader in health care management and operations with portfolios of high-quality facilities throughout New York state.

In this capacity, Berke will provide direction and coordination of medical care for the facility’s subacute rehabilitation patients. This includes maintaining and adhering to all federal, state and local health codes and regulations; executing resident care policies; serving as a liaison with attending physicians, pharmacists, staff and family members; participating in ethics and quality improvement committees; maintaining the written by-laws, rules and regulations as set forth by the facility and ensuring quality care, among other responsibilities.

Dr. Berke is affiliated with Westfield Memorial Hospital and is the founding partner of a growing primary care practice, Family Health Medical Services, PLLC. He is joined at Absolut of Westfield by a team of primary care providers from FHMS including his two practicing partners, Dr. Alexander Selioutski and Dr. Albert Persia as well as Physicians’ Assistant Michael Ludwig.

All providers will continue to see their patients at the three Family Health Medical Services locations in Mayville and Jamestown, NY.

Dr. Berke has been in practice since 1970 and is board certified in general preventative medicine and public health. He received a bachelor’s degree and MDCM from McGill University in Montreal, Canada and a master’s in public health from Harvard University.

Dr. Berke has been married to his wife Jennifer E. Berke, Ph.D. since 1982. The couple has four children: Metivia Berke Whitmore of Lakewood; Jon of Oakville, Ontario; Kayce Sol of Denver, CO and Celeste Berke Knisely of Denver, CO. They also have four grandchildren.
