LAKEWOOD — Starting in March, Happy Hounds Hotel & Day Spa will begin undergoing a 2,600-square-foot addition to its existing facility.

The construction process, estimated to last roughly four to five months, will double the size of the doggie daycare area, increase the size of the big dog area and create a completely new 675-square-foot training area that will be fully staffed with eight ABC-certified trainers. The construction will not impact customer parking, drop-off times, boarding capabilities or any existing stays or grooming appointments.

The new training facility will add another aspect to Happy Hounds. At Happy Hounds dogs are able to receive obedience training, grooming and care all in the same spot. The construction will also add an additional personal play space for shy, anxious or elderly dogs; additional cameras to allow parents and staff the ability to observe all dogs as they interact in the daycare facility and personal play areas; and dog parents will be asked to complete late pick-up at the front of the building instead of the rear with a newly installed buzzer. The buzzer will alert staff inside and they will bring the pup out when you arrive.
