LAKEWOOD — The Chautauqua Art Gallery is celebrating its second year in business with an open house Saturday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Visitors to the open house will have the opportunity to see new work by new and returning artists.

Watercolor demonstrations will take place at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m. and a reception will be held from 4-6 p.m. A special gift card giveaway will be taking place throughout the day. Guests at the open house will also have the first chance to sign up for new art classes being held at the gallery this spring.

Chautauqua Art Gallery was opened in January 2018 by local artist Leslie Calimeri and her husband Joe Calimeri to showcase fine art and artisan crafts by some of the Chautauqua region’s best artists.

“We are very excited to be celebrating two years at the gallery. Joe and I continue to be very grateful for the support we’ve received from our community and fellow artists, which allows us to continue to grow the gallery. I love that we are able to showcase work by artists who are inspired by the beautiful place we live in. It is really a joy to share that with people who come to the gallery,” Leslie Calimeri said.

Currently there are 12 artists represented on the walls of the gallery. Paintings by Leslie Calimeri (Jamestown), Judy Whittaker (Frewsburg) and Kim Turner (Warren); painting collage by William Disbro (Busti); cut paper sculptures by Wendy Bale (Kiantone); photography by Jill Bornand (Dewittville); subtractive collage by Sara Michalak (Dunkirk); fiber and knit work by Lindsay Porter (Rochester) and Lyn Harris (Bemus Point); jewelry by Karen Schiavone (Jamestown) and Carrie Tredo (Westfield); and fiber sculpture by Debbie Penley (Sugar Grove).

Chautauqua Art Gallery is located at 104 Chautauqua Ave., Lakewood. Winter hours are Wednesday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
