Hartley Joins Shults Group

Hartley Buick GMC Truck has closed and its joining Shults Auto Group.

Six generations of local automotive families have come together at Shults Auto Group

“Since the early 1940s, the Hartley family has been known as service minded people,” said

William (Bill) Hartley, president of Hartley Buick Inc., “and that’s exactly how it will stay.”

After serving the Jamestown community for more than 40 years, across three generations, Hartley Buick GMC closed its business on Dec. 3. Hartley Pontiac first opened in the 1940s in Girard, Pa., and opened Hartley Buick GMC in 1972 at 1505 Washington St. in Jamestown.

“I am ready for the next chapter of my career,” Hartley said. “It wasn’t the easiest decision, but Tim Shults and I have been talking about coming together for several years. Bringing the two teams together and repurposing the Hartley facility makes a lot of sense and will allow us to better serve our customers.”

“Our talented sales and service professionals have been working hard on the transition to bring our organizations together so we can continue the Hartley tradition of service,” Shults said, president of Shults Auto Group. “Continuous involvement and giving to the communities where we do business and where our own families live and work have been a foundation of the Shults Auto Group. Bill and my wife, Betsy Shults, are brother and sister; by coming together we will continue what both our families began in the 1970s: strong community involvement and high-quality customer service.”

Shults Auto Group employs more than 400 Southern Tier residents and offers a wide range of selections, representing 15 franchises located in Jamestown, Warren, Bradford, Olean and Dunkirk. Joining Hartley at Shults will be Sindy Ackley, Paul Foster, Tyler Gilbert and Mateo Riolo.

“Our team members are excited to welcome the Hartley team and their customers to the Shults family,” Shults said.
