Babe’s Sweet Tacos Food Truck Comes To Town

BUSTI — Amy Larson opened a food truck called “Babe’s Sweet Tacos” during the spring, turning tacos into a dessert.

Larson worked at various events for nine years before deciding to create her own food truck. Her family loved her dessert tacos — taco shells filled with ice cream, cobblers, cake or other desserts — and she decided that would be the theme of her food truck.

“The inspiration for the name came from my husband,” Larson said. “When we were dating, we would always call each other ‘Babe’ and then the rest of the family would call me that too. I thought it would be a great name for the concession business.”

Babe’s Sweet Tacos has already made an appearance at the Cattaraugus County Fair and the Warren County Fair, and Larson is hoping to come to more fairs and festivals in the future.

Aside from the original dessert tacos, Larson also has specialty sundaes in deep-fried, sugar coated tortilla bowls, sweet and unsweet tea with fresh lemons, and she’s looking to add iced coffee and frappes to the menu.

“I get to choose the places I go and they are generally fun places to be,” Larson said. “I also get to decide when I want to do an event and when I want to stay home. There is a ton of flexibility running a taco truck.”

Babe’s Sweet Tacos has a Facebook and Instagram page, where Larson says people can see where her next location will be. She also has some giveaway events, which she announces on her Facebook page.

“I want to thank everyone who has supported me throughout this adventure,” Larson said. “Especially my husband Jim, who put many hours of hard work into building the food trailer. And a huge thank you to all my friends and family who also helped along the way. I couldn’t have done it without you.”
