TRC Adds To Counseling Staff

Barbara Billings

The Resource Center has added Barbara Billings to its counseling staff.

Billings is a mental health clinician working in TRC’s counseling and psychiatric services office at 880 E. Second St. She holds master degrees in psychology and clinical mental health counseling from Walden University.

Billings worked as a direct-care worker in one of TRC’s homes while completing her master-level courses. She conducted her internship in clinical mental health counseling at TRC and was invited to apply for the therapist position after she graduated.

Billings said she decided to enter the counseling field out of a “desire to give people hope and support in coping with the life issues we all go through. The goal of my work is to facilitate thriving instead of just surviving.”

She is a member of the American Counseling Association and its Association of Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender issues in counseling division. She also is a member of the Golden Key National Honor Society and the Omega Zeta Chapter of the Sigma Chi Iota Counseling Honors Society.

“We are very thankful that Barbara chose to stay on with The Resource Center after her internship,” said Jeff Cullers, program manager. “Barbara represents the values of TRC. Barbara is always pleasant and is very approachable.”

With community counseling offices in Jamestown and Dunkirk, TRC offers a comprehensive array of behavioral health services including psychiatric evaluations, medication management and clinical counseling. TRC also offers personalized recovery-oriented services for people with severe and persistent mental health conditions. To learn more or to schedule an appointment, phone 661-1590.
