National Grid Awards Economic Development Grant
DUNKIRK — National Grid has approved an economic development grant to 320 Roberts Road Freezer LLC, which is redeveloping a vacant, contaminated industrial site that will be home to a new, state-of-the-art refrigerated warehouse.
National Grid will provide up to $300,000 to cover costs related to remediation, abatement and demolition on approximately 8.6 acres of land at 320 Roberts Road in Dunkirk. Once complete, the new warehouse will enable Dunkirk-based Fieldbrook Foods Inc. to increase production capacity and improve operational efficiencies.
The grant was made through National Grid’s Brownfield Redevelopment program, which provides grants to fund utility-related infrastructure improvements and other costs necessary to progress the redevelopment of a Brownfield site or vacant building.
“The grant will cover costs related to demolishing a vacant, 170,000 square-foot warehouse and related site development, which includes removing a hazardous vacant structure,” said Ken Kujawa, National Grid regional manager.
The Brownfield Redevelopment program is among a suite of economic development programs offered by National Grid. More information about the programs is available at www.shovelready.com.
