Electric Motors Specialty Changes Hands
Dixon B. Ames and Rebecca K. Ames recently purchased the assets and ongoing business of Electric Motors Specialty Inc. from William L. Allen and Craig Young.
The new corporation, Sunset Ridge Holdings Inc., registered a DBA with New York state to keep the Electric Motor Specialties’ name, which has existed since Allen and Young established their business in 1981. Allen and Young held off retirement in search of a competent buyer with the experience to carry on and enhance their business.
“There were others interested, but Dixon and Rebecca’s experience and enthusiasm stood out as the perfect fit,” Allen and Young said in a statement. “We truly believe the new owners will maintain the quality of work and great customer service to our loyal customers as they grow the business we have established.”
As they move forward, the new ownership will continue operations in Chautauqua County, servicing local customers and expanding their customer base. Future plans include the purchase of new equipment, adding to the workforce and to implement a strong marketing plan.
The Chautauqua County Industrial Development Agency board approved an AL Tech loan to support the purchase.
“It was a pleasure for the CCIDA to assist with the transition of new ownership. It’s gratifying to witness an established small business continue operations in Chautauqua County,” said Carol Rasmussen, IDA business development manager.
“CCIDA was very helpful in this asset purchase, assisting us in understanding the process of our loan application. The loan through the CCIDA allowed us to invest in our passion, and keep a small business continuing in Jamestown, N.Y. The Small Business Development Center was a tremendous help putting together a business plan, as well as financial projections that showed the assets of this good business transaction,’ said Dixon Ames, owner of Sunset Ridge Holding Inc., doing business as Electric Motors Specialty Inc.
“I’m pleased to see an established business successfully sustained – a credit to the retiring owners and the new owners. We look forward to helping the business grow,” said Beth Reed of the Small Business Development Center.
