The city of Jamestown recently commemorated 45 years as a Tree City USA member by planting five trees along the north shore of the Chadakoin Riverwalk between the city's two pedestrian bridges. The planting included three red maple trees and two serviceberry trees, adding to the city’s tree canopy and recognizing the importance of trees and green spaces in the community. "Celebrating 45 years as a Tree City USA is a meaningful milestone for Jamestown," said Mayor Kimberly A. Ecklund. "We are pleased to mark this occasion by planting five new trees along the Riverwalk for our community to enjoy for years to come." The Tree City USA program is sponsored by the Arbor Day Foundation in cooperation with the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the USDA Forest Service, and the National Association of State Foresters.
