Lakewood Village Board Cancels Oct. 12 Meeting

LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood Village Board meeting scheduled for Monday, Oct. 12, has been cancelled due to the holiday. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, in the village hall, 20 W Summit St., Lakewood. The public is welcome to attend. For more information, visit www.lakewoodny.gov.

Audubon Building Admission Is Free Oct. 12

Audubon Community Nature Center building admission is free on Monday, Oct. 12, from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. in celebration of Indigenous Peoples' DayIn addition to the indoor Nature Play Area, visitors can view interactive displays, a collection of live animals, the nearly 600-acre nature preserve with live birds of prey, the native tree arboretum, gardens, outdoor Nature Play Area and six miles of hiking trails.

Bemus Point Library Board To Meet

BEMUS POINT – The Bemus Point Library board will meet at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the library. The public is welcome to attend.

Outdoor Club To Kayak Sunday Starting At Kinzua Dam

On Sunday, Oct. 11, members of the Allegheny Outdoor Club will kayak from the Kinzua Dam to the Eagles Club in Warren. The group will meet at the Eagles Club on Hemlock Road at 1 p.m. and put kayaks in on the Hemlock side of the Allegheny River. Mark Simpson is the leader for the activity.

Christian Women's Group To Meet Oct. 13

FLUVANNA – The Jamestown-Warren Christian Women Village Missions Country Partners will meet at noon Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Fluvanna Community Church, 3363 Fluvanna Ave., Fluvanna. Guest speaker and music will be by Pastor Tori Jordan. Lunch is $7. Those attending should bring a brown bag gift item for exchange. The group is collecting synthetic socks in October and November for the Blue Star Mothers to send to military service personnel overseas. Also the Nov. 10 meeting will include a Christmas craft fair where those interested can sell homemade items with 25% of sales donated to Village Missions. The local group supports Village Missions, which trains pastors to serve in rural communities or set up a church in the U.S. which may not have a church in its village, or minister a church with no pastor. Fluvanna Library To Hold Learn To Croche Class Oct. 13

FLUVANNA – The Fluvanna Free Library will hold a Learn to Crochet class at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13. The introductory workshop teaches basic crochet techniques. Participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies, though the library will provide a limited selection of yarn and hooks for practice.
