Men's Ministry Event Set For Saturday

BEMUS POINT - The Chautauqua Lake Men of Integrity is holding a Promise Keepers event on Saturday titled "Wake Up Call." The celebration is for men of all ages and runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Bemus Point Methodist Church, 4954 Bemus-Ellery Road. Speakers include Shane Winnings, Keenan Clark, Joshua Broome, and Jacob Coyne. Worship will be led by Jhauon Harrison. The cost is $45 per person, which includes lunch. Brocton Food Pantry To Host Apple Butter Festival Oct. 10

BROCTON – The Brocton Food Pantry will host its annual Apple Butter Festival from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Oct. 10. The festival includes vendors, face painting for children from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., free winter weatherization kits, homemade and fresh apple butter, homemade grape pies and Luppa Henry’s apple pies as well. There will also be a Chinese auction with baskets, gift certificates and free services. All Proceeds go to feed the needy in northern Chautauqua county, especially in Brocton and Portland. There are no admissions charges. The festival is held on the grounds of the West Portland Baptist Church on Route 20, three miles west of Westfield.

Leon Historical Society Is Open Saturday

LEON – The Leon Historical Society will be open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 10. The society is celebrating "Path Through History" with a walk through Leon history with displays in the former 1836 church. There will be Amish baked goods, quilts and crafts for sale while basket making will be demonstrated. Those attending can also register for an Amish Car Tour valued at $60. The drawing will be held at 3 p.m. Refreshments will be available.

BPU Garbage Collection Schedule Is Regular Next Week

The Jamestown Board of Public Utilities will be open on Monday, Oct. 12, Columbus Day/Indigenous Peoples' Day. Garbage and recycling collection will remain on the regular daily schedule throughout the week of Oct. 12-16.

Busti Historical Society To Host Workshop Saturday

BUSTI – The Busti Historical Society's next hands-on workshop is Saturday, Oct. 10, at 2 p.m. at the Busti Historical Society meeting room, 3443 Lawson Road, Jamestown. Free parking in the lot by the mill. The workshop is teaching the basics of the ancient Scandinavian art of Naalbinding, also commonly known as toothbrush rugs. Those attending can make a coaster or a set of coasters using upcycled materials.Supplies are included. The cost is $25 per person or $20 for Busti Historical Society members. Audubon To Host Camp For Children Ages 4-12 On Oct. 12

The Audubon Community Nature Center will host its October camp from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12, when children have the day off of school. Children ages 4 to 12 can take part in a day of Audubon activities before the weather turns colder. Activities include learning about changing trees, autumn insects and migrating birds. Children need to dress for the weather and have extra clothing and gear for outside activities. Cost for the day is $48 for ages 4-12 or $36 for Nature Center member children. Additional siblings receive a $5 discount. Enrollment is limited. Paid reservations are required by Thursday, Oct. 8.
