Apple Butter Festival Scheduled For Oct. 10
WESTFIELD – The West Portland Baptist Church, 7081 E. Route 20, Westfield, will host its 12th annual Apple Butter Festival. On Saturday, Oct. 10, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. with old-fashioned kettle cooked apple butter available for a donation. There also will be more than 40 vendors offering various sale items including food vendors. The festival will take place rain or shine. All profits generated from the festival will be donated to the Brocton/ Portland Food Pantry, which is operated on the church grounds. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
Fluvanna Library To Host Craft, Color Day Thursday
FLUVANNA – The Fluvanna Free Library will hold its Craft and Color Day at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8. Community members are invited to bring their own coloring materials or crafting projects to the library’s monthly creative gathering, held in a relaxed, social atmosphere. Organists Guild To Participate In Organ Crawl Monday
Members of the Chautauqua Chapter of the American Guild of Organists will participate in an organ crawl from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 12. The group will leave from Christ First United Methodist Church at 8:45 a.m. Those participating are welcome to drive separately if they choose. The crawl is an opportunity to visit and play the Sarah B. Dorn Shantz Pipe Organ in the Harriet B. Wick Chapel on the campus of Pitt Bradford. The group will also visit the 3-manual 1934 Aeolian Skinner Pipe Organ at The Church of the Ascension (Episcopal) and the Tellers Pipe Organ at First Presbyterian Church. Student and adult organists and pianists are welcome to come and play the organs. Pizza lunch will be included.
Next Fenton Canteen Is Saturday
The next Fenton Canteen will be held on Saturday, Oct. 10, from 10 a.m. to noon at the Fenton Mansion/Museum, 67 Washington St, Jamestown. Veterans of all ages are welcome to join for cookies, coffee, and camaraderie. Service dogs are also welcome.
Audubon To Host Little Explorers On Saturday
The Audubon Community Nature Center will host its next Little Explorers, “Falling Leaves” from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday for children ages 3-8. After a short indoor lesson, those attending will go outside to see how many different leaves are falling around Audubon and collect some to make a craft. They may find holes made by insects, compare shapes and sizes, and notice which leaves turn colors and which don't. A snack is provided after the hike and a craft is offered if there is time. Little Explorers takes place regardless of the weather, so dress accordingly. The fee is $12 for adults, $9 for children ages 3 to 8 and Nature Center members. Enrollment is limited to 15 children, 30 participants total.
