Saturday Scandinavian Culture Day Lecture To Focus On Oscar Lenna
John Everett Jones will present a lecture Saturday as part of Scandinavian Culture Day in the Hamilton Collegiate Center at Jamestown Community College on Oscar Lenna. This year marks the 150th year since Lenna's birth. Lenna had a major impact on the Jamestown as well as Swedish community. Jones' lecture is scheduled for 11 a.m. and is sponsored by the Scandinavian Studies Program with the support of JCC. There is no fee for the program. Other events of the morning beginning at 9:30 a.m. include celebrating Swedish Cinnamon Bun day and Swedish Candy Day. A number of workshops will be held beginning at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. For more information call 716-665-0883.
4-H Program Enrollment Begins Oct. 1
Registration will begin for the upcoming Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H program year on Thursday, Oct. 1. To learn more about 4-H or enroll visit tinyurl.com/mrx3ypsj. Enrollment costs $30 per child with a $90 limit per family.
Allegheny Outdoor Club To Hike Sunday At Hearts Content
On Sunday, Oct. 4, members of the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike at Hearts Content on the Toms Run Trail. The hike will be about 4 miles of moderate difficulty. The group will meet at Musante Street in Warren at 1:30 p.m. or at the Hearts Content Recreational Area at 2 p.m. Linda Ross will be the leader for the activity.
JCC Hockey Team To Host Pink The Rink Game Saturday
The Jamestown Community College hockey team will host its Pink the Rink game at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Northwest Arena as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities in partnership with UPMC Chautauqua and the WCA Foundation. Admission is $5, with children ages 18 and under admitted free. There will be a basket giveaway, 50-50 giveaway and a silent auction for special pink jerseys.
St. Luke's Thrift Shop Open Saturday
St. Luke's Thrift Shop will be open Saturday, Oct. 3, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. All departments are full with fresh fall inventory. There is also a selection of Buffalo Bills clothing.
