Book Fair, Basket Raffle Is Oct. 3 In Busti
BUSTI – The Busti Church of God and Hazeltine Public Library will present a book fair and basket raffle from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3. Authors and artists participating include Julia Casselman, Jen Kilburn, Lana Keller, Sally Ferguson, Jessie Andersen, Steve Sorensen, Julia Thompson, Alicia Willsie, Darla Grieco, Mollie Lyon, Heidi Mercier, Emily Stepansky, Arlene Coullter, TJ Buck, Joe Sanifilippo and Dan Weisbrod. The event is a fundraiser for the Busti Church of God Uganda Team, leaving for Africa next spring to present eye clinics. Led by Pastor Roy Ferguson, and under the supervision of Dr. Donna Morhous, the eye clinics bring relief with an otherwise unavailable service to most people in third world countries. Busti Church of God has been sending teams to Uganda since 2010. More than 65 people have gone once, some have been back multiple times. Proceeds from a Food Café featuring homemade treats, souvenirs from Uganda, and a basket raffle from authors and local businesses will all go to the Uganda Team. Everything purchased from authors and artists will go toward their expenses. There is free parking and admission. Rabies Vaccination Clinic Is Oct. 3 In City
The Chautauqua County Health Department and the Chautauqua County Humane Society will host a rabies vaccination clinic from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Salvation Army, 83 S. Main St., Jamestown. Animals must be pre-registered to receive vaccinations. Vaccinations will be provided free of charge to all dogs, cats, and domesticated ferrets three months of age and older. Pre-registration is required and should be submitted online by visiting HealthyCHQ.com/Rabies and view the calendar for upcoming clinics. There are a limited number of spots available, so pet owners should pre-register online as soon as possible. Those who register but decide not to attend the event are asked to cancel their appointment so the spot is available for another pet. Appointments can be canceled via the confirmation email received after registering. Pet owners must bring previous rabies vaccination records for each animal receiving a shot to ensure proper and effective vaccination; clinic staff will confirm previous rabies vaccination records. All dogs must be on a leash. All cats and ferrets must be in individual carriers. Animal handlers will transport animals to the veterinarian for vaccination.
Brocton American Legion To Host Oktoberfest Oct. 3
BROCTON – The Brocton American Legion Post 434 will host its third annual Oktoberfest with food starting at 1 p.m. Oct. 3 followed by music from 3 to 7 p.m. There will be authentic German food and a stein holding competition. German music will be provided by the Polka Boyz, an original Hoffbrau Haus band. The public is welcome to attend.
Elysian Center To Hold Open House Thursday
BEMUS POINT – The Elysian Center will host an open house from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, at its 4578 Johnson Road, Bemus Point, location. The open house will give visitors an opportunity to tour the property, meet members of the team and learn about plans for the development of The Elysian Center. The 70-acre property features a barn, indoor and outdoor arenas, pastures, three miles of trails and additional spaces that could support future development.
