Lakewood Fire Department To Hold Open House Saturday
LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood Fire Department will hold an open house from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday at the fire station, 37 JW Packard Blvd, Lakewood. There will be free food, giveaways, a bounce house, fire truck rides, demonstrations of the ambulance, fire hose and fire extinguishers. The Lakewood Busti Police Department K9 officer will also be in attendance.
Mayville Senior Citizens To Meet Oct. 1
MAYVILLE – The Mayville Senior Citizens will meet at noon Oct. 1 at the Mayville VFW. The club will provide subs, with members asked to bring a dish to pass. The group held its annual chicken barbecue in September 34 members and four guests present. President Robin Carr, spoke about the upcoming trips sponsored by the group and others. She then spoke of a suggestion put forth at the last meeting of the group's board to move meetings to the second and fourth Tuesday of each month because the Mayville VFW has increasingly had other events scheduled for Thursdays. The change will take effect in 2027. Door prizes were won by Sharyn Giardina, David Thorp, Maureen Davis, Dianne Goodrich and Darlene Harper. The $5 lottery was won by Bev White.
East Randolph Methodist Church To Hold Rummage Sale
EAST RANDOLPH – The East Randolph Methodist Church will hold its fall rummage sale at the church, 122 Church St., East Randolph, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, and a $2 bag sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 3. Donations are being accepted from Sept. 27 through Oct. 1 in the church fellowship hall from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Grape Discovery Center To Host Oktoberfest Events Oct. 3
WESTFIELD – The Grape Discovery Center will host its first Oktoberfest event, teaming up with the Hofbrauhaus Buffalo and Wardynski's Meats of Buffalo, from noon to 8 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, with German beer on tap, live music by the Living Room Jam Band beginning at 3 p.m. and traditional Oktoberfest food that include bratwurst, kraut, wieners, Black Forest Torte and Concord grape pie. Tickets range from $10 to $20 while parking is free. Tickets are available online at www.grapediscoverycenter.com or at the Grape Discovery Center, 8305 Route 20, Westfield. Fall hours at the center are Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Audubon Photography Club To Meet Oct. 3
The Audubon Photography Club will meet from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 3, at the Audubon Community Nature Center. A brief presentation is offered at the end to help develop nature photography skills. To be included in September's slideshow, by Wednesday, Sept. 30, submit five photos under the meeting’s themes of "signs of fall" or "leaves" to Taylor Spontaneo, club coordinator and nature educator, at TSpontaneo@AudubonCNC.org. Coffee and tea are provided. Depending on weather and time, at the end of the meeting participants will go outside to take pictures and/or walk around the trails for a bit. Participation is $4 for adults, $3 for Nature Center members and children ages 9-15. Reservations are appreciated by calling 716-569-2345 or going to AudubonCNC.org/september-photo-club. Walk-ins are welcome.
