Lakewood-Busti Golden Agers To Meet Today

LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood-Busti Golden Agers will meet at 1 p.m. today, Sept. 15, at Lakewood American Legion Post 1286. The guest speaker is Brittany Paterniti who will be speaking about preventing falls and how to get up. Donations of yarn to create hats, mittens, and scarves to be distributed to schools in the area and other agencies near the holidays are being accepted. Any individuals age 55 or older are welcome to attend a meeting. Annual dues are $10.

JLDC Meeting Scheduled For Wednesday Canceled

The Jamestown Local Development Corporation meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled due to a lack of agenda items.

Antique Car Club To Meet Wednesday

FLUVANNA – The CLRAACA will have its monthly general meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at the War Vets Recreation Club in Fluvanna. The meeting starts at 7 p.m. Anyone with an interest in antique automobiles is welcome to attend.

ST. Luke's Thrift Shop Open Wednesday Through Friday

St. Luke's Thrift Shop is having an end-of-season bag sale on clothing in all departments. The shop is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Shoppers can fill bags with clothing from all departments for $2 a bag. There is a wide selection available. Shoes and purses are included in the sale. The Thrift Shop is located at 409 Pine St., Jamestown. Off-street free parking is available. Those visiting should enter on Fifth Street between Main and Pine streets.

I-86 Bridge To Be Closed Nightly This Week

The state Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the bridge carrying Interstate 86 over Chautauqua Lake between North Harmony and Ellery will be closed as part of an ongoing rehabilitation project from 9 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15, until 6 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16 (eastbound and westbound); 9 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, until 6 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 17 (eastbound and westbound); 9 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 17, until 6 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 18 (eastbound only); and 9 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 18, until 8 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 19 (eastbound and westbound). Motorists should follow the posted detour utilizing Route 394 and Route 430.

Watts Flats UMC To Host Chicken, Biscuit Dinner

ASHVILLE – The Watts Flats United Methodist Church, 866 Blockville-Watts Flats Road, Ashville, will host a chicken and biscuit dinner from 4:30 to 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16. The dinner will cost $10 with all proceeds to benefit the church.

Bemus Point School Board To Meet Sept. 15

BEMUS POINT – The Bemus Point Central School Board of Education will meet Tuesday, Sept. 15, in the cafeteria at Maple Grove High School, 3980 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point. An executive session is possible at 5 p.m. followed by the regular meeting at 6 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.

Reg Lenna To Screen 'Tony' Wednesday

The Reg Lenna Center for the Arts will screen Tony at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16. The film tells the story of a 19-year-old Anthony Bourdain traveling to Provincetown and stumbling into the chaotic world of a restaurant kitchen, setting off a summer that will shape the course of his life. Tony is rated R and is 106 minutes long. Tickets for most Movies at The Reg are $8 in-person at the box office and $10 online (reglenna.com) and by phone at 716-484-7070. Family showings are $7 in-person at the box office and $9 online and by phone. Special engagements are priced differently. The theater and box office at The Reg are located at 116 E.
