Bridge closings announced by DOT
The New York State Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the bridge carrying Interstate 86 eastbound over Chautauqua Lake between the towns of North Harmony and Ellery in Chautauqua County will be closed from 3 a.m. to 6 a.m. daily until Thursday as part of an ongoing rehabilitation project.In addition, the bridge will be closed in both directions from 9 p.m. on Thursday until 6 a.m. on Friday.Motorists should follow the posted detour utilizing State Route 394 and State Route 430.
Card-making class planned Sept. 5
SOUTH DAYTON -- On Saturday, Sept. 5 from 10 a.m. to noon there will be a card making class at the Village of South Dayton’s Depot Museum by Barb Nobles and Donna Snyder. Make and take 4 cards for $10. The class limit is 10. To sign up, call Karen Strickland 716-988-5076. On Saturday mornings, the Farmers’ Market sets up from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. next to the Depot.
Budget workshops planned in Ellicott
The Town of Ellicott will be holding budget workshops on Sept. 8, 9, and 10 at 5 p.m. They will be held in the Town Board Room. The public is welcome to attend.
Prendergast Library Media Review Club For Adults Meets Sept. 21
The Prendergast Library is now running a Media Review Club for adults, where participants can explore and discuss varying media formats. The program is held on the third Monday of each month at 5:30 p.m. On Sept. 21 at 5:30 p.m., those attending can learn about Zines, a tool to share information. Started in the 1930s by science fiction fans, and then a favorite of 1970s Punk rockers, this media style has a history of allowing people to let their voices be heard Call 716-484-7135 ext. 2226 to register or for more information. Hanging Butterfly Feeder, Seed Kit Activities Offered At Prendergast Library
Twice a month, the Prendergast Library offers Meet and Make programs for adults and teens ages 14 and up. In September, teens and adults are invited to make and decorate a beaded hanging butterfly feeder on Wednesday, Sept. 18, at 5:30 p.m. On Saturday, Sept. 26, at 2:15 p.m., those ages 14 and up can make a seed kit. With science in mind, patrons will make their own seed science planter to take home. Learn about seed cycles, germination observation, and how to help your plant mature.
