Prendergast Library To Host Half-Off Book Sale Sept. 8-12
The Prendergast Library runs an ongoing bargain book sale as a fundraiser to support library operations, with a half-off book sale held four times a year, with even steeper discounts. The third half-off book sale of 2026 will be held from Tuesday, Sept. 8, through Saturday, Sept. 12. The sale operates during the library's regular hours, though shoppers are asked to finish purchases 15 minutes before closing time. The library is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. During the half-off sale, adult hardcover books are $2 each, adult paperbacks are $1 each and all children's books are 50 cents apiece. All other items, like CDs and DVDs are also half off. On Thursday and Friday, shoppers can also fill a bag of books for $10, and on Saturday bags will be $5.
Historian to speak on Busti name
BUSTI -- Local historian John Everett Jones will speak this Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Busti Historical Society about the Polish and Italian connections to the Holland Land Company and how Busti NY got its name. All are invited to come learn how Western New York was settled and the man Busti is named after. The talk will be in the outdoor pavilion. Please bring a chair and your questions. Free parking and admission. The event will be held rain or shine.
Rod and Gun Auxiliary board meetings resume
LAKEWOOD -- The Lakewood Rod and Gun Auxiliary Board will meet Thursday, Sept. 3 at 4p.m. The general Auxiliary meeting will be held Tuesday, Sept. 8 at 4 p.m. in the Club Board Room. Greeters will be Anne Gullotti and Marilyn Trusso. Helpers are Sally Hagg and Sally Gregory. In charge of refreshments will be Wanda McKotch and Karen Hurlburt.
All ladies, with up-to-date memberships, are invited to attend the meeting in the Club Board Room.
All-Ages Movie Night Is Sept. 18 At Prendergast Library
The James Prendergast Library will host an all-ages movie night from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Sept. 18. Everyone is invited to drop in, watch a movie and have snacks. The film will be "Despicable Me 4."
