Jamestown Public Schools Board To Meet Tuesday
The Jamestown Public School District Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the board room of the administration building, 197 Martin Road, Jamestown. The public is welcome to attend.
City Council Cancels Monday Meetings
Due to a lack of agenda items, the regularly scheduled Jamestown City Council work session and committee meetings for Monday, Aug. 24, have been cancelled.
Fenton History Center To Host Sam Genco Gathering
The Fenton History Center will host an informal gathering in memory of Sam Genco, a local historian and Fenton History Center board member, from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 24. Friends, colleagues, and anyone who knew Genco are welcome to attend.
Ten Cent Howl To Perform In Cassadaga Sunday
CASSADAGA - The band 10 Cent Howl will perform from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, at the Cassadaga Beach as the Cassadaga Lakes Summer Concert Series continues. Ten Cent Howl includes Bill Smith on vocals/acoustic guitar, Jerry Hall on bass/vocals, Randy VanWey on drums, Charlie Wesley on electric guitar and Sasha Pack on keyboards. The band's newest album was recorded in Cassadaga and is titled "Music From the Maple Downs."
From 4-5 p.m. on the newly renovated Beach Bandstand will be "Still Bill" Moran. He will be playing guitar and singing folk songs from the 1960s. Beach parking is limited. Park at the nearby library, church or firehall if able to do so. In case of inclement weather, this concert will be moved to the Cassadaga Fire Hall on 22 Mill St. or American Legion Post 1280 on 228 Maple Ave. For more information, call 716-665-8855.
Audubon 2026 Shirt Fundraiser Deadline Is August 24
The foxes that trot along the trails at Audubon Community Nature Center (ACNC) inspired in-house designer Jess Piskor to create the "Run Wild" image that graces the many styles in Audubon's 2026 Shirt Fundraiser. Monday, Aug. 24, is the last day to order the styles and sizes of one's choice. T-shirts come in a variety of adult sizes, in short and long sleeves, as well as youth and infant sizes. There are also women's-cut short-sleeve tees and hooded sweatshirts in adult and youth sizes. XXLs are available for an additional charge. Shirts can be picked up on Friday, Sept. 11, or Saturday, Sept. 12, between 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Orders placed to ship will be mailed for an additional $10 per order.
