Fenton To Host Lucille Ball Walking Tour Saturday
Lucille Ball was born in Jamestown and lived in various places returning to Jamestown in her teen years. Learn about her downtown Jamestown stories on the tour that begins at the Fenton History Center at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8. The tour guide is Joni Blackman, executive director of the Fenton History Center. The Fenton will also host a second walking tour at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, featuring three city churches starting with the Jamestown Free Methodist church on 515 E. Seventh St. followed by the First Congregational and First Presbyterian churches. The tour guide is Cindy Dustin, a volunteer with the Fenton History Center. The cost is $8 for Fenton History Center members and $12 for non-members. Participants can pre-register online, at the Fenton History Center, or by calling 716-664-6256. There is a limit of 20 people for each tour. Sponsors are Rodgers Land Surveying, Ahlstrom Schaeffer, and Weber Knapp.
St. Luke's Thrift Shop Open Saturday
St. Luke’s Thrift Shop, 409 Pine St., between East Fourth and Fifth streets, Jamestown, will be open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, in addition to regular hours Wednesday, Thursday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All departments are stocked with summer clothing and housewares. The first floor ladies department has half-price on all clothing, shoes and purses, and includes a large selection of plus sizes. All proceeds are used locally.

PANAMA – The Panama Central School Board of Education will hold a special board meeting at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, in the board room. The public is welcome to attend.
Congressional Candidate To Host Town Hall Thursday In City
Aaron Gies, Democratic Party candidate for Congress, will host a town hall, one of 100 he will host between now and the Nov. 3 election, at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6, at the James Prendergast Library. Gies will deliver a State of the District address before taking questions from the public. The public is welcome to attend.
Grape, Fruit Growers Field Day Demo Is Aug. 12
A field day demo for grape and fruit growers is slated for Wednesday, Aug. 12, 2026. Grape and fruit growers and industry professionals can see the latest advances in spray technology during an all-day meeting and demonstration hosted by Penn State Extension. The Lake Erie Regional Grape Program Sprayer Technology Field Day will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Aug. 12, at the Cornell Lake Erie Research and Extension Laboratory (CLEREL), 6592 W. Main St., Portland. Participants will have the opportunity to see current and emerging spray technologies in action
while learning from guest experts representing Cornell University, Michigan State University and Washington State University. Presentations and field demonstrations will highlight practical insights into innovations that can
improve application efficiency, crop protection, and vineyard and orchard management. Participants can earn two pesticide applicator credits in the core category, and one credit each in categories 2, 18 and private category. Organizers encourage participants to register by Aug. 11.
