Maple Grove Cemetery To Host Annual Meeting

KIANTONE – The annual meeting for the Kiantone Maple Grove Cemetery will be held May 18 at 7 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Kiantone Congregational Church. All lot owners are welcome. Election of officers will be held.

Fluvanna Library To Hold Open House Thursday

FLUVANNA – The Fluvanna Free Library is celebrating an open house on Thursday, May 14, from 3 to 5 p.m. Highlights include updates, new construction and the history of the library. The open house will also feature guided tours, exhibits and refreshments. The public is welcome to attend.

Senior Council’s Trivia Contest Is Thursday

STOW – The United Senior Council will host its annual trivia contest at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 14, at the Harmony Senior Center on Stow Road, Stow. The cost is $5 for teams of between one and three people. Refreshments will be provided. There will be cash prizes and a raffle.

Falconer Library Board To Meet

FALCONER – The Falconer Public Library board will meet on May 14, at 8 a.m. at the Falconer Public Library, 101 W. Main St., Falconer. The public is welcome.

Red Cross To Hold Blood Drive May 15 At TRC

The American Red Cross will host a blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. May 15 at The Resource Center, 200 Dunham Ave., Celoron. To make an appointment or for more information, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App. visit RedCrossBlood.org. call 1-800-733-2767 or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed 1o ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 16 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Allen Cemetery To Host Memorial Service Sunday

The Allen Cemetery will hold its memorial service on Sunday, May 17, at 2:30 p.m. on Willard Street Extension. The speaker this year is Paul Fardink, a retired U.S. Army aviator and lieutenant colonel and vice president of the Chautauqua County Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. He is responsible for the Patriot Burials Marker Program in the county. Fardink works with the Pomeroy Foundation to set these markers up in Chautauqua County cemeteries. The Pomeroy Foundation awarded a Patriot Marker to the Allen Cemetery for the four Revolutionary War veterans interred in the grounds. They are Phineas Allen, Nathaniel Fenton, Elias Tracy and Joshua Woodward. There will be a special dedication ceremony for this marker immediately following the memorial service.
