United Senior Council To Meet Today
PANAMA – The United Senior Council will meet at the Panama United Methodist Church in Panama for their April meeting at 10 a.m. today, April 9. All seniors are welcome. The council will host a safe driver’s course from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. April 23 at The Chautauqua Center, 107 Institute St., Jamestown. The course costs $39. For reservations call Ellen at 716-763-1012.
Lakewood Rod And Gun Club Gathers Today
LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood Rod and Gun Auxiliary Board will meet Thursday, April 9, at 4 p.m. The general auxiliary meeting will be Tuesday, April 14, at 4 p.m. in the board room. All auxiliary members are invited to attend. Past presidents will be honored and a pot luck dinner will be held. Those attending are asked to bring a dish to pass. The auxiliary is now accepting scholarship applications. Applicants must be a child or grandchild of an auxiliary member in good standing. Red Cross To Hold Blood Drive Friday In Cassadaga
CASSADAGA – The American Red Cross will hold a blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. Friday, April 10, at the Cassadaga Fire Hall, 22 Mill St. To make an appointment or for more information, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App. visit RedCrossBlood.org. call 1-800-733-2767 or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed 1o ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 16 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
Audubon To Host Little Explorers Saturday
The Audubon Community Nature Center will host its next Little Explorers session from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Saturday, April 11, for children ages 3-8 and an adult. The group will learn about mammals that rely on ponds and their connecting waterways. After a short hands-on lesson indoors exploring the behaviors, diets, and habits of Western New York’s wetland mammals, the group will go outside to search along the pond edges and look for beaver chews, otter tracks, and muskrat slides. Spend some time exploring Audubon’s wetland spaces and you might see signs of beavers building dams, otters catching food, and muskrats swimming between the edge of the pond and their temporary lodges. A snack is provided after the hike and a craft is offered if there is time. Little Explorers takes place regardless of the weather, so dress accordingly. The fee is $12 for adults, $9 for children ages 3 to 8 and Nature Center members. Enrollment is limited to 15 children, 30 participants total.
