Ivory Cemetery To Hold Annual Meeting Saturday

FREWSBURG — The annual meeting of the Ivory Cemetery, located on Emery Hill Road, Frewsburg, will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Ivory Baptist Church, 633 Ivory Road, Frewsburg. Any interested parties are welcome to attend. Light refreshment will be served. Any headstone decorative items that have been left over the winter and have become weathered will be discarded soon after this meeting. Those who want to keep items should remove them before April 11.

JCC To Host Jazz Fest Friday Night

Jamestown Community College hosts Jazz Fest 2026 on Friday, April 10, at 7 p.m. in the Scharmann Theatre on the Jamestown Campus. The event will feature a performance by acclaimed regional ensemble Jazz Crossing along with the Chautauqua County Student All-Stars. The concert is free and open to the public and will also be streamed live on Zoom. Jazz Crossing brings together seven of Western New York’s most accomplished and recognized jazz musicians. The ensemble includes John Cross on saxophones, flute, and clarinet; Jay Hagen on trumpet; Doug Shutte on trombone; Tyler Nelson on vibraphone; Jim Madden on piano; Marc Cousins on bass; and Craig Ridgway on drums. The group plays an eclectic mix of jazz standards, grooves, and blues. Also featured will be the Chautauqua County Student All-Stars, an ensemble made up of talented high school and college musicians from across the region. The group will perform selections by Kenny Dorham, Doug Beach, and other jazz composers. “Events like Jazz Fest give our students and the community a chance to experience outstanding live music right here on campus,” said Neil Flory, chair of JCC’s Music department. “Jazz Crossing features some of the finest musicians in our region, and sharing the stage with the Chautauqua County Student All-Stars makes this a special opportunity for young performers and jazz fans alike.” For more information about upcoming JCC events and event Zoom links, visit sunyjcc.edu/Events.

Legion Auxiliary Meets April 14

CASSADAGA – The Cassadaga American Legion Auxiliary Unit 1280 held its regular monthly meeting with nine members attending. Chaplain Paula Pattison is sending out cards to members as needed. Unit 1280’s membership is at 94.5 % paid for the year. Dues can be paid at the post or mailed to the post. Plans are in the works for the post’s annual rummage and bake sale to be held in the back hall Saturday, May 16, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Items can be dropped off at the post after May 9, but no appliances, computers, electronics, or exercise equipment are accepted. Unit members present voted to donate two baskets to the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. Proceeds from the raffle will go towards scholarships to individuals pursuing degrees in medical or mental health. Unit 1280’s next meeting will be April 14 at 6:30 p.m., in the Legion Hall.

Foster Cemetery Association To Meet Wednesday

LANDER – The annual meeting of the Foster Cemetery Association will be held on Wednesday, April 8, at the Lander Community Church, Lander, Pa., at 7 p.m. All interested persons are welcome to attend.
