Auxiliary To Host Meat, Gun And Basket Giveaway
FREWSBURG – The Samuel L. Derby American Legion Auxiliary Unit 556 met recently. Chaplain Dee Dee Liden sent cards to Angel Harrower, Dana Nowell, Karen Cummings, Natalie Peterson and Lynn Webber. As Angel Harrower is an auxiliary member, a donation of $200 to the Brandon BZ Zebrowski Memorial Fund in memory of her husband and mother was approved. Liden will also mail a card to Ken Alabaugh. One member reported 10 hours at the food pantry and one member reported one hour volunteering for a leadership merit badge session for the Boy Scouts. President Verna Hoover attended a Be The One virtual training to learn how to recognize veterans in crisis. Membership is currently at 247 paid membership, 94% of goal. Poppy Days will be held on May 14-16 at the Tops and Kwik Fill in Frewsburg. The veteran bracelets are selling well. The 250th anniversary bracelets should be in soon. The spring meat, gun, and basket raffle will be held on Saturday, March 28. The next county meeting will be held on April 9 at 7 p.m. in Mayville. It is a joint Post, Sons, and Auxiliary meeting. The Samuel L. Derby American Legion Auxiliary Unit 556 meets the third Tuesday of every month. All members are encouraged to attend. The next meeting will be held on April 21.
Jamestown Zoning Board Of Appeals To Meet
The Jamestown Zoning Board of Appeals will meet at 5 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, in the City Council chambers on the second floor of City Hall. The only item on the agenda is a variance for the Southern Chautauqua Federal Credit Union’s proposed project in the former Rite Aid store at 811 N. Main St. The board must approve a variance because “warehouseing” is not permitted in areas designated C-2. The public is welcome to attend. Those who want to submit written comments in support of or against the variance can send them to the City Clerk’s Office, 200 East Third Street, Jamestown, NY 14701 or via email at clerk@jamestownny.gov. Those comments will be read into the record and transcribed. The meeting will be livestreamed at www.jamestownny.gov/live.

FALCONER – The Falconer Planning Board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 2, in the Community Building board room, 101 W. Main St., Falconer. The public is welcome to attend.
First Presbyterian To Host Memorial Recital April 12
In celebration of the music ministry at First Presbyterian Church and to honor the memories of the congregants who loved music in church, the church will host a memorial recital on April 12 at 4 p.m. presented by Landon Gray, trumpet, Max Hagel, tenor, and David Horne, organ and piano. They will offer works by Nicholaus Bruhns, J. S. Bach, and F. J. Haydn, as well as Georges Bizet, Gabriel Fauré, Alan Hovhaness, and Jenifer Higdon. Featuring prominently will be our 51 rank Sanctuary Organ. Gray is on the faculty at the State University at Fredonia and plays regularly with the Buffalo Philharmonic, the Akron Symphony and many other regional ensembles. Hagel is is a tenor soloist at the church as well as the song leader and audio technician for Sunday worship. He is a senior at SUNY Fredonia, majoring in sound recording technology. Horne has been a church musician all of his life and has been an organist and choir director for more than 50 years. He has served as minister of music at First Presbyterian since September 2018. The public is welcome to attend.
