DOT To Host Public Hearing Tonight In Lakewood

The state Department of Transportation will host a public hearing from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. today, March 5, regarding a proposed highway improvement project on Fairmount Avenue between Route 474 and Elmcrest Avenue in Lakewood. The meeting will be held at the Busti Town Hall, 125 Chautauqua Ave., Lakewood. The hearing will consist of an open forum information session from 4:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. which will feature displays about the project, information about construction and proposed timelines, and provide an opportunity for discussion with NYSDOT representatives, who will be available to receive comments and answer individual questions. A formal hearing will begin at 5:30 p.m., including a presentation and opportunities for the public to ask questions and give feedback. The project proposes to improve highway facilities including a mill and overlay of existing asphalt pavement from Winch Road to Elmcrest Avenue, construction of new sidewalks on one side of the roadway from Ashville Road to Shadyside Avenue, and modifying the roadway between Shadyside Avenue and Elmcrest Avenue to create a new center two-way left-turn lane. Construction is expected to begin in the spring of 2027 and be completed by December 31, 2028. Two-way traffic would be maintained during construction with no detours. Allegheny Outdoor Club To Hike Sunday

On Sunday, March 8, members of the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike on Pennsylvania State Game Lands 29 in Pleasant Township. Road access is the Fire Tower road off Route 337. The hike will be an “out and back” hike that is a relatively flat 4 miles. The group will meet at Musante Street at 1:30 p.m. Peter To will be the leader for the hike.

Democrats To Host Spaghetti Dinner, Auction Sunday

BUSTI – The Lakewood-Busti and Jamestown City Democrats will host a spaghetti dinner and silent auction on Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Mount Moriah Masonic Lodge, 3485 Baker St. Ext. The cost is $20.

Christian Women’s Group To Meet Tuesday
