Cassadaga School Board To Meet Thursday

SINCLAIRVILLE – The Cassadaga Valley Central School Board of Education will hold a budget workshop at 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, in the middle high school multi-purpose room and via Zoom. A special meeting will be held immediately following the budget workshop, tentatively starting around 7 p.m.

County Parks Commission To Gather Thursday

The Chautauqua County Parks Commission will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 26, at the Chautauqua County Airport conference room. The meeting is open to the public.

AMVETS To Host Benefit Dinner

The AMVETS Ladies Auxiliary 726 is hosting a dinner on Saturday, Feb. 28, at the ILS Veteran’s Club, 364 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown, from 4 to 6 p.m. or until gone. The cost of the dinner is $12 for adults and children under five will eat free. Dinner choices include pork tenderloin with mushroom gravy, or chicken and biscuits, both dinners including mashed potatoes, a vegetable, and dessert. Takeout dinners are available. The dinner is open to the public. The Post will open at 3 p.m. Proceeds will be donated to Tunnels to Towers Foundation, an organization which supports mortally wounded first responders such as firemen and police, and catastrophically injured veterans, as well as Gold Star families, by providing such assistance to these individuals and their families with mortgage-free homes, or paying off the mortgages on homes for families whose loved ones have made the ultimate sacrifice. They support other programs which also assist these families.

First Lutheran To Host Guest Pastor

The Rev. Allie Leitzel, former pastor of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, will be the pulpit guest at First Lutheran Church Jamestown, this coming Sunday, March 1, at the 9 and 11 a.m. worship services. The Second Sunday in Lent will be celebrated with Holy Communion, by Pastor Leitzel. The choir will be singing “God So Loved the World” by Sir John Stainer, directed by Julie Costantini, and Organist will be Gail Espinoza. The public is welcome to attend.

Library To Host Half-Off Book Sale

The James Prendergast Library will host its next half-off book sale from Monday, March 2, through Saturday, March 7. The sale operates during the library’s regular hours, though shoppers are asked to finish purchases 15 minutes before closing time. The library is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. During the half-off sale, adult hardcover books are $2 each, adult paperbacks are $1 each and all children’s books are 50 cents apiece. Shoppers can also fill a bag of books for $10.

Frewsburg To Host Five-Hour Course

FREWSBURG – A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be offered at Frewsburg High School on Monday, March 16, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. The cost is $30. Preregister by emailing rhair@frewsburgcsd.org – include a picture of the student’s permit, or by calling 716-569-7026 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday. When calling, please make sure to have the student’s permit on hand.
