Reg Lenna To Screen Films Wednesday And Friday
The Reg Lenna Center for the Arts will screen the films Hamnet and Marty Supreme. From Academy Award winning writer/director Chloe Zhao, Hamnet (Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 7 p.m.) tells the story of love and loss that inspired the creation of Shakespeare’s timeless masterpiece, Hamlet. The film is nominated for 8 Academy Awards, including Best Picture and Best Actress – Jessie Reilly. Hamnet is rated PG-13 and is 125 minutes long. Marty Supreme (Friday, Feb. 13, at 7 p.m.) is the Academy Award Best Picture nominee from director Josh Safdie. Marty Mauser (Best Actor nominee Timothee Chalamet), a young man with a dream no one respects, goes to hell and back in pursuit of greatness. The film is nominated for nine Academy Awards. Marty Supreme is rated R and is 149 minutes long. Upcoming Movies at The Reg include Best Actress nominee Rose Byrne in the dark comedy If I Had Legs I’d Kick You (Feb. 18 at 7 p.m.), Brad Pitt in the car racing drama and Best Picture nominee F1 (Feb. 20 at 7 p.m.) and Ralph Fiennes in the British WWI historic drama The Choral (Feb. 27 at 7 p.m.) Tickets for most Movies at The Reg are $8 in-person at the box office and $10 online (reglenna.com) and by phone at 716-484-7070. Family showings are $7 in-person at the box office and $9 online and by phone. Special engagements are priced differently. The theater and box office at The Reg are located at 116 E. Third St., Jamestown. The box office is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from noon to 5 p.m. and one hour before movies and events.
Lakewood Library Board To Meet Wednesday
LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood Memorial Library Board of Trustees will meet Wednesday, Feb. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the library, 12 W. Summit St. Members of the public are welcome to attend.
Bemus Point Historical Society Speaker Series Continues
BEMUS POINT – The Bemus Point Historical Society Guest Speaker Series continues on Wednesday, Feb. 11, with Pam Brown, North Harmony historian and author, discussing the story of the only Conservation Corps Camp in Chautauqua County. As the Great Depression gripped America, the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) offered hope to millions. A Legacy of Labor: The Story of the Only Conservation Corps Camp in Chautauqua County, New York dives into the untold stories of the young men who joined this program, working to restore forests and revitalize lands around Panama while enjoying social activities and companionship. The author will have her book on the topic available for purchase for $20. The presentation is free and open to the public beginning at 7 p.m. at the Bemus Point Village Hall. The adjacent Bemus Point Historical Society Museum will be open at 6:30 p.m. for touring prior to the event.
Fenton Canteen Feb. 14
The next Fenton Canteen will be held Saturday, Feb. 14, at 10 a.m., at the Fenton History Center, 67 Washington St., Jamestown. A special part of the upcoming canteen will be a Quilts of Valor ceremony in the Fenton Drawing Room at 10:30 a.m. There will also be coffee, cookies and camaraderie. Service dogs are also welcome.
