MAYVILLE – The Mayville Winterfest medallion has been found after three clues. The winner will be announced by festival organizers later.
Scandinavian Culture Day Is Saturday At JCC
Scandinavian Culture Days will be held Saturday, Feb. 7, at Jamestown Community College’s Hamilton Collegiate Center beginning with coffee and lingonberry drink at 9:30 a.m. and workshops at 10 and 11 a.m. Cooking class this month is kroppkakor (Swedish potato dumplings.) Other workshops include table top weaving with the Chautauqua Weavers Guild, chip and wood carving, Swedish weaving, Norwegian painting, knitting and Scandinavian bingo. The event is free and open to the public.
Bemus Point School Board To Hold Budget Meeting Monday
BEMUS POINT – The Bemus Point Board of Education will hold a budget work session at 5:15 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, in the cafeteria at Maple Grove High School, 3980 Dutch Hollow Road, Bemus Point, to discuss the 2026-27 budget proposal. No action will be taken. The public is welcome.The board will hold its regular meeting at 6 p.m., with an executive session possible afterward. The public is welcome.
Panama School Board To Gather Monday
PANAMA – The Panama Central School Board of Education will meet at 6 p.m. Monday, Feb. 9, in the board room. The public is welcome to attend.
Teachers’ Grants Available For Programs
The Retired Educators of New York/Western Zone is accepting applications for grants that will be awarded to public schools educators in Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, and Niagara counties. The grants will provide the opportunity for educators to have additional funding to enhance their programs. Educators may submit under two categories: one for classrooms to enhance and support student learning, or one an out of classroom cultural presentation by or for students. Applications are available for five grants of $1,000 each. Letters have been sent to all building principals in the five Western New York counties. Interested educators should contact their principals for a grant application and information. All applications must be postmarked by Feb. 28 or may also be
submitted online by Feb. 28 by emailing applications to MHager9115@gmail.com. Announcements of winning grant recipients will take place on April 15 at the organization’s next board meeting.
