County Parks Commission To Meet Thursday
The Chautauqua County Parks Commission will meet at 10 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 22, in the Chautauqua County Airport conference room. The public is welcome to attend.
Chautauqua Mall To Host Blood Drives
LAKEWOOD – The American Red Cross will host blood drives at the Chautauqua Mall, 318 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood, from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 22 and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jan. 30. High school students and other donors 16 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
Allegheny Outdoor Club To Hike Sunday
On Sunday, Jan. 25, the Allegheny Outdoor Club will hike the North Country Trail at Henry Mills. The hike will be a loop hike of 3.8 miles. It is very steep at the beginning and then levels out. The group will meet at Musante Street in Warren at 1:30 p.m. and then travel to the trail. Jim and Kim Berkey are leaders this week.
Prendergast Library To Host Candle Workshop
The James Prendergast Library will host a Meet & Make: Rolled Beeswax Candles workshop at 2 p.m. Saturday for teens and adults. Rolled beeswax candles are simple, natural candles made by rolling a cotton wick into a sheet of honeycomb-patterned beeswax. This lets those interested create candles without melting wax. On Thursday, Jan. 29, at 5 p.m., the library will host a Meet & Make: Inspiration Trees workshop. Those attending can create decorative trees for art, reflection or play using mixed media. There is no cost to attend the program. Registration is recommended due to limited supplies; walk-ins are available as supplies last. To register call the library’s Information Desk at 716-484-7135, ext. 226. The library is open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on weekdays and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
