Blood Drive

LAKEWOOD – The American Red Cross will host two blood drives at the Chautauqua Mall, 318 E. Fairmount Ave., Lakewood from 12:30 to 5:30 p.m. Jan. 22. To make an appointment or for more information, download the American Red Cross Blood Donor App. visit RedCrossBlood.org. call 1-800-733-2767 or enable the Blood Donor Skill on any Alexa Echo device to make an appointment or for more information. All blood types are needed 1o ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 16 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.

Hazeltine Library Board To Gather

BUSTI – The Hazeltine Public Library board will meet Tuesday, Jan. 27, at 5 p.m. at the library, 891 Busti-Sugar Grove Road. Members of the public are welcome. The library offers off street parking and is accessible. For more information, contact the library at 716-487-1281.

YWCA To Hold Annual Meeting

LAKEWOOD – The 2026 YWCA Jamestown annual meeting will be held Tuesday, Jan. 28, at the YWCA Lake Lodge,185 E. Terrace Ave., Lakewood. The dinner and program will begin at 5:30 p.m. Crystal Surdyk, Jamestown development director, will be the evening’s guest speaker. In her current role, she oversees the city’s Department of Development, Urban Renewal Agency and Jamestown Local Development Corporation, which include planning and development, policy development, building code administration, and economic and business development. The evening will also feature the introduction of new board members including Janet Chew, Indo Quinones, Krysta Rives, Melissa Pollino, Cindi Manocchio, Carissa Bentley and Chandra Davis. Blood Drive Set For Jan. 29

The Community Blood Bank will host a blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 29, in the auditorium at UPMC Chautauqua, 207 Foote Ave., Jamestown. Those interested in donating blood can call 814-456-4206 to schedule an appointment. Appointments aren’t necessary but can reduce donors’ wait times. Community Blood Bank partners with hospitals in Northwest Pennsylvania and Western New York to provide blood for patients in need. Donors must be at least 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good general health. Photo ID is also required. Prior to donating, donors should eat a solid meal and drink at least 18 ounces of water.
