Hazeltine Library Author Series Continues Today
BUSTI – Author Joan Wahl will share stories of romance in the music city of Nashville during the Hazeltine Public Library’s author series at 6:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27. “Joan is a returning author who has published two novels and promises to share insights into her third,” said Katie Smith, library director. “She is a lifelong resident of Chautauqua County and has had the pleasure of meeting many of the cast and crew of the TV series ‘Nashville.’ This is another case of homegrown talent that we often don’t realize.” There is no charge to attend. Due to the weather change the speaker will be inside the library. The Hazeltine Public Library is located at 891 Busti-Sugar Grove Road. The library is accessible and there is off-street parking. Questions or concerns can be addressed by calling the library at 716-487-1281. On Nov. 3, poet Lana Keller will be the featured author, followed by Joe Ulrich on Nov. 10.
Chautauqua Lake Central School To Host Blood Drive Oct. 29
MAYVILLE – Chautauqua Lake Central School, 100 N. Erie St., Mayville, will host an American Red Cross blood drive from noon to 5 p.m. Oct. 29. All blood types are needed 1o ensure a reliable supply for patients. A blood donor card or driver’s license or two other forms of identification are required at check-in. Individuals who are 17 years of age in most states (16 with parental consent where allowed by state law), weigh at least 110 pounds and are in generally good health may be eligible to donate blood. High school students and other donors 16 years of age and younger also have to meet certain height and weight requirements.
Overnight Closures Bridge Begin Tuesday
The state Department of Transportation is advising motorists that the bridge carrying Interstate 86 over Chautauqua Lake between North Harmony and Ellery will be closed in both directions from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. nightly beginning on the evening of Tuesday, Oct. 28, and continuing until Friday morning, Oct, In addition, the bridge will be closed from 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 31, until 9 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1. Motorists should follow the posted detour utilizing Route 394 and Route 430.
Tea Party Patriots to Meet Tuesday
The next meeting of the Southern Tier TEA Party Patriots will be Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 7 p.m. at 1309 Norby Road. A first-hand report of the No Kings rally will be given. Free speech will be a subject matter for the evening as well as updates on local politics and elections.
Jamestown Public Schools BOE To Meet Tuesday
The Jamestown City School District Board of Education will meet Tuesday, Oct. 28, at 6 p.m. in the boardroom of the administration building, 197 Martin Road. The public is welcome to attend.
